International Workshop on the mechanism of Phreatic Eruption

Introduction:
Hakone volcano made a small phreatic eruption in 2015. Fortunately, no human damage was caused by the eruption, however, steaming activity remains higher than before the eruption. Recently, sudden phreatic eruptions have occurred one after another and eruptions of Ontake in 2014 and Kusatsu-Shirane in 2018 caused casualties. In this work shop, scheme for volcano monitoring, research and disaster mitigation measures will be discussed with invited foreign and domestic scientists.
